Alan Meckler spot on the money - Images rules

At LundKenner we are involved with some quite community driven companies. Both Zecco.com (free stock trading) and Avisen.dk (Free danish newspaper) focus a lot on having user added content, i didn’t think about it too much before but the other week it really hit me. One day in the not to distant future there will be some very powerful tools for finding copied images, so having royalty free images for the use of your content generating users will be BIG BUSINESS, hence once again Alan Meckler have been spot on buying royalty free image services.

File Sync Computer - Mobile - Internet

If anybody know any software that is available for PC’s and Mobiles that automatically sync selected folder/s - please let me know, if not, why isn’t this available? and when am i going to get the Business Plan pitch in my email?

Why do i want this?
I want my Mobile to sync with my computer the 250 most played songs.
I want my Mobile to sync with my computer and Online service and automatically check that the 800 pictures i have taken with my 3.2 Megapixel Cellphone camera exists, and if i wanted to i could easily add it to my online photo album.

Why is the time now?
I have 2 mobile phones at all times with me, 1 with Wifi, and 1 with 3g where 1 gb of transfer is included for 20$ … that’s it, i finally have the bandwidth to automatically do all these things

(BTW LundKenner portfolio company Zyb.com rocks for Calender/Contact sync)

The western world has no idea of what’s coming…

Pretty much every hour of my life evolves around economics in some way or another, a quite frequently discussed topic is that of the economics of a country, and what amazes me the absolutely the most is the lack of understanding of the power of Asia. I thought i would give some quick data that i have heard during the last years:

-Asia makes up 60% of the population (Excluding Russia)
-Shanghai is rumored to have around 70% of all building cranes worldwide.
-If you have a factory in China outskirts (Hk area etc) you can move the factory in 60 miles every 10 years and continue doing that for the next 100 years and pay todays salaries with added inflation.
- 2 Of the top 3 universities in IBM’s global programming competition was chinese
- India produces 3 times the amount of engineers with a university education as the US

2006 - Places visited

2006 was a bit lighter than 2005 in terms of traveling, still
managed to squeeze in a fair bit of destinations though.
- Miles flown: 138852 miles
(5.5 times around the equator, or 58% of the distance to the moon)
- Countries visited: 16 (on 4 continents)
- Flights: 76

Missing shanghai too

Playlist hit, Timbuktu, swedish Rap artist, and a song i used to have on REPLAY non stop whilst living in shanghai pretty much, the chinese kids loved me walking around rapping with the lyrics to myself, shanghai is the most fantastic place on earth, there will NEVER be anything like it EVER again 110% sure, need to revisit, see all old friends
All crazy stories from shanghai could make up a blog of their own…
(Telling Taxi driver he’s michael schumacher and he should speed up, and he takes the VW from 1970 and drives straight through a family park… so many stories)

For everybody in ventures (and possibly capital)… Bessemer’s Anti-portfolio

“Stamps? Coins? Comic books? You’ve GOT to be kidding,” thought Cowan. “No-brainer pass.”

(Can very much relate this week)

Problem with Wifi is you can’t “roam” hence you can’t walk around talking on a wifi phone very much, hence my Sony Mylo didn’t become as useful as i hoped.

The O.C Canceled
I wonder if Drama TV shows are like nightclubs/social networks… only possible to last a certain amount of time before they have to “re-brand” (Yeah 90210 was on for a long time, but it kind of sucked after first few seasons)

Journalism today

Reminds me of this quote from The west wing:

TOBY
You’re a good father, you don’t have to act like it. You’re the President, you don’t have
to act like it. You’re a good man, you don’t have to act like it. You’re not just folks,
you’re not plain-spoken… Do not – do not – do not act like it!

PRESIDENT BARTLET
I don’t want to be killed.

How many hours a day do you read?

Sometimes i worry that i spend to much time during a day reading, i don’t read so many books, but my bloglines list pushes out an amazing amount of posts a day, on top of the “holy” firefox bookmark tab which i click several times a day, and on top of the 20-30 wikipedia pages i at least read on a daily basis. So reading Forbes doing a slide from their 400 Richest people in America named: How many hours a day do you read? walking through all the slides i realized that it was probably better to spend to many hours a day reading than to few (maybe i was just stupid not realizing that before)

Alan meckler “fired” the PR agency

I am a big Fan of Alan Meckler, I’ve never had the pleasure of meeting Alan even though we’ve been in same “circles” for a while (I have attended many of his Conferences and know a lot of the old Jupiter Conference staff) - Alan has always had a very “futuristic” vision of the internet, and so far his track record is very hard to beat, he saw the rise of search engines extremely early together with Danny, i His corporate blog is a good read, and i found it quite interesting to read how he basically didn’t think of the option of using a PR agency anymore, simply because his blog is so powerful as a medium.

How the name came about

I know the question will come up sooner or later so might as well tell it to you now.
My friend Jason suggest nicely that i could use his domain, mustfocus.com (those who know me will say it’s a very fitting domain) but i had talked to Om and he suggest i use my first name in the domain, but his suggestion was already taken, so i continued my search, then one night i was speaking to Francois Mazoudier who runs Gohello.com, so i was taking the piss with him saying i would call it gohellomartin.com, and the day after i realized hellomartin.com wasn’t actually that bad, and wholap, it was free so i registered it, and i guess from there on it’s all history…
