Should top general for health care be independant?

If this isn’t scary i don’t know what would be.

US Surgeon General speaks his mind

The above makes you a bit baffled, and maybe a independent office would be better, or that the surgeon general would sit over a specific time, so he couldn’t be fired (Something like a supreme court system)

I Would advise everyone to go and see Sicko, whether you are against michael moore or not it doesn’t matter, the movie certainly made me a lot happier about having grown up in Sweden, which even though probably have too high taxes (Highest in the world) gives free health care to all it’s residents, and free emergency health care to anyone from anywhere.

And i quote… (from the Universal Declaration of Human Rights)

Article 25.

      (1) Everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of himself and of his family, including food, clothing, housing and medical care and necessary social services, and the right to security in the event of unemployment, sickness, disability, widowhood, old age or other lack of livelihood in circumstances beyond his control.

      (2) Motherhood and childhood are entitled to special care and assistance. All children, whether born in or out of wedlock, shall enjoy the same social protection.

This kind of enterprise / government relationship that’s clearly not in the public interest has become so normal in the US. It makes me embarrassed for my home country.

I second Martin’s recommendation to go see Sicko. It’s another great Michael Moore eye-opener. Do take some of his exaggeration with a grain of salt, though, and read Kurt Loder’s critique _after_ you’ve watched - http://www.mtv.com/movies/news/articles/1563758/story.jhtml
